A group-wide commitment to sustainability by the Doyle Collection across all properties has been high on our agenda in the past few years; lately becoming a focus area at our Head Office in Dublin too.
To this end we joined our colleagues in the hotels and are delighted to share that we have received a Green Tourism Silver award. Our initial score of 65% was attained by making some small but significant changes in the office and also leaves room for us to make further changes to increase our score in the coming 12 months.
Some of the small changes with a big impact have been:
- Electronic papers at Board meetings
- Centralised bins on floors – Increased number of recycling stations – Compost collection and disposal reintroduced
- Removed all plastic cups from water stations in the office
By providing regular updates/information cards for the Head Office team (in the form of “Our Weekly Dose of Green”, we have been able to raise awareness and keep sustainable practices at the forefront of our minds. On presenting the award, Green Tourism said:
“The Doyle Collection Head Office has done a great job at achieving the Silver Green Tourism award following on from their green check. There are many good examples onsite such as their Green policy, Sharing of green story with staff and visitors and using local caterers. There is a good system in place to encourage recycling with nice clear and easy to understand signage. This is just the beginning of the journey I am sure The Head Office will only continue to increase the score”.
The coming months will see us challenge our carbon footprint with an emphasis on travel and sustainable procurement. The future is Green at The Doyle Collection.
